2010--Polynesian Party, Hamon Family Reunion, Pioneer Day

2010 was big month for us---we moved from Buffalo NY to Souther Alberta
In July we went to the Polynesian hangi, Hamon family reunion, celebrated Pioneer Day and moved. This same year one of Dan's middle sons got married.

Polynesian dancer at the hangi.
Hangi actually refers to the method of cooking in the ground with hot stones, or to the underground oven so created, and to the food so cooked. When you're asked to a hangi, you're actually being invited to a feast of Maori food cooked in the manner described. Various types of meats and vegetables, such as kumara or sweet potato, are wrapped in leaves or, in an acquiescence to modernity, aluminium foil. These items of wrapped food are then placed in a hole in the ground and cooked with hot stones. http://goaustralia.about.com/od/maoriculture/f/hangi.htm

Featuring Sam (Dan's brother), Nina (Trevor's wife and Dan's sister-in-law), Corey (Dan's nephew), Alan's back, Me, and Trevor with the newspaper

This is the music that the dancer is dancing to---you can see her for a sec due to all the many people----it was too windy outside so every one had to come inside
